Individual membership of the Barnet Residents Association is open to anyone over the age of 18, although only those people with a home address in the area covered (High Barnet ward and Underhill ward) will be entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting or other general meetings.

Corporate membership is available to organisations with a presence in the area. Corporate members are not entitled to vote at an Annual General Meeting.

Membership fees are fixed annually at the Annual General Meeting and are currently:

  • Individual - £4
  • Family membership (at the same address) - £6
  • Corporate membership - £6.

Paying your subscription

By cheque

A cheque for the appropriate amount can be sent by post to the Membership Secretary (see address details, below) accompanied by our Membership Form (PDF, 47Kb) which is available to print and complete.

Directly into our bank account

Payment may be made directly into our bank account. New members will need to contact our Membership Secretary by e-mail (see below) to provide their name and address details for our records and also to obtain our bank account number and sort code; these are omitted from the website for security reasons. Existing members should already have our bank account information from their renewal reminder, but if they have been mislaid, the Membership Secretary will provide them on request.

The membership fee can then be settled by a single payment into our bank account. Alternatively, a regular payment can be set up by printing the Standing Order Form (PDF, 43Kb) which can be found on this site to be completed and passed to the member’s bank. Members need to fill in the BRA’s 8 digit account number on the standing order form; this has been omitted from the version on the web site for security reasons.

Setting up a regular subscription using PayPal

For those with a PayPal account, the most straightforward way to set up a regular subscription is to do so via PayPal, and we would urge members to adopt this method. As well as making the annual payments on our members’ behalf, PayPal will confirm the members' name and address details to the Membership Secretary for inclusion in our records. All PayPal transactions are subject to the PayPal Privacy Policy.

E-mail Messages

During the year, we send out occasional e-mail messages to our members, alerting them to issues that we believe are important or of particular interest (we apologise to those of our members who are unable to access electronic communication so have to await our Newsletter). If you give us your email address, we will use it for subscription reminders. Let us know if you do not want to receive messages of general interest as well. You can of course ask us to remove your email address from our records at any time and you will receive no further messages.
