Many residents will have seen recent reports that companies connected with the ownership of The Spires shopping centre have entered administration. We understand that this news may cause concern, and we would like to offer reassurance and clarity.
Administration does not mean The Spires is closing. The shopping centre remains open and trading, with retailers continuing to operate as normal. Day‑to‑day management of the centre is continuing while the administrators review longer term arrangements.
Given the importance of The Spires to Barnet’s High Street and wider community, the Barnet Residents Association has formally registered as an interested party with the administrators.
This allows us to engage directly and to represent the interests of local residents, businesses and traders as discussions move forward.
Our focus is on supporting a stable and positive future for the town centre, protecting local shops and employment, and helping ensure that The Spires continues to play its central role in Barnet’s life.
