COMMUNITY CHEMIST RETIRES

Another stalwart of the high street is leaving Barnet high street.

After 42 years as pharmacist at Wilkinson Chemist Naresh Maini has decided to retire.

He grew up with his parents in Kenya, moving to the UK in the early 1970's, started schooling in Blackpool. After Blackpool he went to Bradford University starting his pharmacy career.

Naresh then moved to Markyate in Bedfordshire working part time in a pub!

The family bought Wilkinson Chemist back in 1982 although his father was a trained lawyer.

Naresh and his wife have been at the helm since the 1990s and become a major support for the locals that needed their services.

They have offered unique care and gone above and beyond in countless situations especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

May we wish the family well in their retirement, but we have been told Naresh might be back for a couple of days helping as the new owners pharmacist!
