BYM Capital, the owners of the Spires, have shown in the clearest possible way that they have major plans for High Barnet by confirming that they have purchased the former market site in Chipping Close. They have also let us know that they have identified a new operator for the Spires car park, and in a difficult retail environment, are in conversations with several potential new occupiers and a new national retailer.
They state that:
'We are committed to ensuring the Spires Shopping Centre remains at the heart of the town and as such provides suitable town centre uses and offerings for Barnet. We are currently exploring what additional improvements can be made to the retail environment, public realm and supporting land uses. We would very much like the opportunity to hear from the community and discuss your views on the above and potential opportunities for the future at the appropriate time.'
